ANCHORAGE CONCERT CHORUS
MENTOR AWARD GUIDELINES
(print guidelines here)The Anchorage Concert Chorus (ACC) offers mentorships for young singers so they may enjoy the experience of singing with Anchorage's premier large choral group!  This mentorship will waive your membership dues, fundraising obligations and provide your music and the expert tutelage of our Conductor and Artistic Director, Dr. Grant Cochran, for the ACC’s 2016-2017winter semester.  If you are selected for a mentorship, you will enjoy the same opportunities and responsibilities as any member.  In order to be eligible, you must meet and agree to the following requirements:

1. You must be 16 years of age or older (or will be 16 by September 1, 2016) but not over 25 years of age, attending high school or college in Alaska, and available to sing the ACC final concert of the year on April 1, 2017.  (The Chorus will be singing excerpts from the opera “Boris Godenov”as guests of the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra.)  Additionally, the ability to read music and have some choral experience is preferred.

2. You must be available to audition for the ACC.  Your audition will be arranged to coincide with our regular auditions for the winter semester, most likely at a regular Monday night rehearsal in January.  (If other arrangements are required, every effort will be made to accommodate your needs.)

3. You must be available to attend regular ACC rehearsals which are held Monday nights from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church in Anchorage at 15th and Cordova.  Additional rehearsals include dress rehearsals, usually the two evenings prior to our concerts, a Saturday morning and occasionally others TBA, especially if you are interested in Chorale or solos.

The ACC always has a great season planned and 2016-2017 continues that history.  The remaining concert of the year is on April 1, 2017, 8 p.m. Excerpts from the Russian Opera “Boris Godunov” with the Alaska Chamber singers as guests of the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra.  And, of course, you are invited to sing Messiah – a special and anticipated ‘kick-off’ to the Holiday Season.  Rehearsals begin the first Sunday of November and each Sunday thereafter with the performance Sunday, December 4, 2016.

Mail your completed application to:  Carolyn Morris, Mentor Awards, Anchorage Concert Chorus, 3510 W. 31st, Anchorage, AK  99517 postmarked by August 15, 2016. Or, you can email to:  morrisrc@gci.net  You will be contacted for audition.

Your application must be signed by you (and your parent or guardian if under 18). (download the application here)

Any music provided by the ACC is the property of the ACC and must be returned when you leave the chorus.  You will also be asked to complete an exit evaluation of your experience so the ACC can measure the effectiveness of our Mentor Awards.

It's that simple and there are several Mentorships available.

If chosen for an award, you must also complete an Anchorage Concert Chorus Membership Agreement prior to receiving your music.
