![]() The Anchorage Concert Chorus (ACC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of Roland Rydstrom as the new Executive Director. In this role, Roland will serve as the chief operating and administrative officer of the ACC corporation, and provide leadership to support and execute all organizational functions including our business and financial management, event production, marketing and communications, educational programming, fundraising and development, public relations, and community outreach.
Roland’s diverse career experiences in education, administration, and programming will serve him and the ACC very well. He was an inaugural staff member at The Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities serving as a Residence Counselor and the Coordinator of Fine Arts. He held numerous positions at Ball State University in Student and Academic Affairs, including Residence Hall Director, Academic Advisor, and staff or alumni advisor to several student organizations, including the Beta Omega chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, an international professional music fraternity. He worked in University Housing at Western Illinois University before returning to Indiana to serve as the Assistant Dean for Campus Life at Marian College (now University.) When he left Marian as the Dean of Student Life, he went to the new Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana to work as the Director of Student Life and helped create state and campus-wide programs as the institution moved from a vocational school to a community college mission and model. Roland was on the production team of the successful independent feature film, Paradise Recovered, and has worked as an adjunct instructor, and contract consultant for grant writing, leadership and staff training, and strategic planning among several other project areas that will be instrumental to ACC. Most recently, Roland had the opportunity to partner with several of the non-profit Laura Ingalls Wilder home sites throughout the Midwest which are dedicated to preserving the Ingalls-Wilder legacy and celebrating the world-famous Little House books. Roland earned a Bachelor of Science in Area Music Education and a Master of Arts in Higher Education/College Student Personnel from Ball State University. Roland replaces Sandy Adams who served as the Executive Director of ACC since November 2003. The ACC wishes Sandy a very happy and well-earned retirement, and thanks her for years of devotion to our mission! I couldn’t be happier about this opportunity to serve the Anchorage Concert Chorus and the local arts community as the new ACC Executive Director. I look forward to working with our many community partners, the Board of Directors, the membership, Artistic Director and Conductor Dr. Grant Cochran, and many others as the Chorus ventures into its next 70 years as The Voice of Anchorage! Thank you for this unexpected but perfect opportunity to return full circle to music! ~ Roland Rydstrom I am very excited to have Roland joining the ACC team! Along with fundraising, programming, and management skills, he brings a fresh perspective on marketing the Chorus and helping us with some exciting new opportunities. He is sure to be a great asset to the Anchorage Concert Chorus! ~ Jennifer Midthun, President, ACC Board of Directors This year is dedicated to Dr. Grant Cochran's 25th Season celebration.
Our History ACC’s existence in the Alaska community has been long and successful. Founded in 1947 by Lorene Harrison, the Chorus is a mainstay in Anchorage’s arts community. Affiliations
